The United Clothing Bank is a student-led non-profit organization founded by Jessica Zhang, a high school student from Southern California. From being a volunteer at Working Wardrobes, Jessica was inspired to establish a similar organization where people could donate their unwanted clothing to underprivileged communities around the globe.
On average, 700,000 tons of used clothing get exported overseas and 2.5 million tons of clothing are recycled. However, over 10 million tons of clothing get piled up in landfills rather than being donated. As the landfills start to pile up, the trash is moved to an area to be incinerated. This process produces toxic substances and large amounts of poisonous gasses because of burning landfill. To help fight against this issue, United Clothing Bank allows people in underserved communities in China to gain access to free clothes from our clothing donations.
Our donation drop off points are run by the volunteers. Please message our members to manage your donation drop off.
